Shy's post-op recovery

Updated: Jun 28
Professor Shy is home and recovering from surgery and vaccination. That was done yesterday and he refused to leave his pet carrier the vet sent him home in. He didn't hiss but wasn't thrilled about being petted either. We made him a cathouse - a box about 18x18x14, with an old towel inside, but he was not interested. We sprayed towel with catnip and placed a couple of greenies on it. All that was in our half bath, along with a litterbox and a bowl of water for him. Later we brought him some wet food on a paper plate and that was it for the night. We only managed to take a towel from the carrier, as he seemed to pee a bit on it.
In the morning we found him in the box, all food was gone and he used the litterbox at night! Both ways! Street cat, eh? As it was easier to reach for his neck and shoulders now that he was in the box, mom applied Revolution Plus on him (we specifically asked the vet the day before if it is ok to use this treatment after surgery and vaccination, and they said yes, totally, even right away). Always good to double-check, especially if several treatments were given (in Shy's case - antibiotic and pain medicine, plus 2 vaccines).
When mom went to check on him later, she found that he opened the bottom drawer under the sink and was sitting under it. Cooler surface? Yes, later he discovered the way to go inside the cabinet through that drawer. Well, he has to stay in the bathroom for 2 more days while Revolution Plus works it's magic, so why not explore.
